Steeped in History

Criccieth is set in the most spectacular location surrounded by sea and mountains with friendly townsfolk who will make you welcome. Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) is the highest mountain in Cymru (Wales) at 1085m and attracts between 350,000 and 400,000 visitors a year. Criccieth Fair has been held on the 23rd May and 29th June on Y Maes every year since 1284 and there is a firework display on the beach in November.

It has two beaches either side of the Castle, the famous icecream shop Cadwaladers, Castle Fish & Chips and Dylan’s restaurant is at the end of the promenade housed in the Clough Williams-Ellis (Portmeirion architect) designed art-deco glass fronted building along with gift shops, a deli and a train station.
